Caerphilly 10k

Tuesday, April 2nd, 2019

SUNDAY 21ST JUNE 2015
The Caerphilly 10K is set to return for the third consecutive year on Sunday 21st June along with the Team Challenge and the Caerphilly 2k.
With 2000 runners of all abilities descending on Caerphilly from across the country to enjoy the event, organisers are hoping that this year’s event will be bigger and better as over 2500 participants and as many spectators gear up to line the route.
Set in the shadow of the spectacular Caerphilly Castle, the Caerphilly 10k will both start and finish on Crescent Road. Runners will have the opportunity to run a good time on a relatively flat course with some undulating points. The course will lead participants in and around the town centre, passing iconic landmarks including the giant cheese sculpture and Tommy Cooper statue along the way and offering great views of the medieval castle, which dominates as the stunning backdrop to the event.
The course record was set by Owain Jones who passed the finish line at an amazing 31 minutes and 22 seconds and many elite and competitive entrants are expected to try and take on the record for 2015.
The event is organised by Caerphilly County Borough Council and is supported by Welsh Athletics, Run Wales and Sport Wales.

KEY FEATURES:
· Minimum age 15 years for the 10k and 8 years for the 2k on run day
· Organised under UK Athletics rules
· Accurate course measurement
· Chip timing (for all 10k entrants)
· Free medal to all finishers
· Entry limit 2,500
· Start time – 10am for the Caerphilly 10k and 9.15am for the 2k.
